    Gutsy Smurf

So on date night last night we went to the movies to see....Captain Jack Sparrow.

Anyway in the previews we got to see the new Smurf movie which has a wee blue man in a kilt with an accent I can't place....maybe Jock can help.

So google Gutsy Smurf for a gander at our heritage represented on the big screen.

Watching that cartoon growing up, I couldn't resist a bit of Google-fu.

He's going to be voiced by Alan Cumming. And apparently the toy is already out...

This outfit seems to have been inspired by the Smurf "tartan". Talk about class, look at how the lines match up on the jacket, waistcoat and pants. Ah, to be able to afford his tailor.

Why are they always pleating these on the front? If they really wanted that to look like a kilt, isn't the flat front easier to recognise?

Maybe with his wee body the kilt maker was having a devil of a time trying to get a flat front out of 8 yards of tartan!...

They may have gotten the kilt details all wrong (is that a sash???), but the toorie on the end of his hat was a nice touch.

You know, many have wondered about using a kilt in a costume. THIS would be the way to do it; work up a Gutsy Smurf costume.
