Guy wearing a kilt on Renovation Nation

I'm catching up on old episodes of Planet Green's Renovation Nation, and I just watched an episode where the host Steve Thomas was building a timberframe barn next to his house. The timberframing engineer was wearing what looked like a Utilikilt. Steve asked him why he wore a kilt, and the guy responded "It's a conversation starter", or something to that effect, and that life's too short not to be interesting.

I think the show was on sometime last fall.

That was about it. The kilt looked well worn, and was worn with suspenders, because he had a TON of tools hanging everywhere, and his cargo pockets were stuffed full. He was participating in the construction of the timber frame, the same as any of the other workers. It was pretty cool.

You have to love the freedom of a Utilikilt!

I really enjoyed that episode, partly because of the interest in building a timber frame barn and partly because of the UK.

Apparently not much of a conversation starter.

I guess most don't associate Kilts with real physical labor!

Well, it was a show about green construction; the fact that they mentioned it at all means it stands out a bit. Every scene the guy appeared in (including the one months later when everything was finished) he was wearing a kilt.
