    Cool

"the Clan Wallace tent, Laurie Isdelle said she thought that recent interest in Scottish heritage had a lot to do with one of her distant relatives by marriage, a man by the name of William Wallace.

Wallace, of course, is best known to people today as the title character in Mel Gibson's "Braveheart." The film won five Oscars in 1995, including best picture, and briefly made kilts and blue face paint must-have items for Halloween stores."

    Not another Wallace descendant!

Actually, that would be a Greek Kilt.

We had a discussion about them recently, but I can't remember what the blasted things are called. Something like "fustinella" or something similar.

Yeah I recall hearing about them during the Olymipics I think Each pleat is there to reprsent something, All the kilts have the same number of pleats.

I can't recall what they are named or what each pleat represents either.
I do recall that the material was a soft thin cotton or something like that.

Technically no one can be a descendent of Wallace since he didn't have children.

    Evzones

Here is a good web page about the Greek Evzones, the Greek soldiers who wear the fustanella, or kilt:

    http://www.athensinfoguide.com/wtsevzones.htm

I've seen some more "utlilitarian" versions of the fustanella in pictures from the Second World War.

    Back to topic now...

I guess you could make 100 pleats if they were each no more than 0.5 cm wide at the hip!!!!! I suppose to the stripe would be the easiest!!

But actually we can't be positive that William Wallace had no children since there is so little known about his personal life. It is even uncertain whether or not he was married, or who his father was, or where he was born.

Any wonder anyone with a relation to Clan Wallace claims the relation to the most famous member?
