IAFF Fallen Firefighter Memorial

just got back from Colorado springs for the memorial, 122 lodd's this year (june 08-june 09)
it was a totally overwhelming, and humbling to be a part of it. I found some vids on youtube posted already..

you can see me about 0:31-0:33 just behind the drum major, I'm the only one wearing a balmoral.

and that night after the honors were done, it was time to celebrate the fallen.
and we did by marching down the street! ( btw I'm 3 rows back on the left....in the white shirt!!)

it was an awesome thing to be a part of, and I cant wait till next year!

just wanted to share

Thanks for posting.

LODD = Line of Duty Death.

The pipes always move me, especially Amazing Grace.

Thanks for clarifying that. Rather shocking to realize that many firefighters die in a year's time throughout nation.

The average is over a 100 each year. Numerous related to health issues (heart, ,lung and cancer)created due to stress, bad food, lack of sleep, and overall wear and tear. Cancer is rarley given LODD status though.

As a former Springs resident, thank you for those videos and that tribute. My family has been in and around Colorado Springs for well over 100 years.
