Kilt in Princess Diaries!
Sitting here watching The Princess Diaries on the Disney channel with my daughters. Never noticed it before, but there is a Scot wearing a kilt, and his wife is wearing what looks like a fly plaid, only smaller. A tartan piece of cloth worn over her left shoulder. He is wearing a red tartan with a black jacket and sporran. Can't see much of the kilt. His lady friend remains seated and is wearing a white blouse under the fly.
It is the scene during the State dinner, the first time that Mia appears at a Genovian function in public.
Just thought everyone would be interested. Forgive me if someone already noticed it.

Very interesting. I've seen the Princess Diaries and did not spot the man in the kilt. The next time it's on I'll what for that specifically.

In the second movie, there is a Scotwoman emceeing the parade. She is dressed all in tartan.

I might look like I'm doing nothing, but at the cellular level I'm really quite busy.

I have never even heard of The Princess Diaries let alone seen it I'm afraid but, Rob, just a quiet word - between the two of us: Ladies do not wear the Fly Plaid. That's for us chaps. The ladies wear The Sash, which should be of a lightweight tartan, or silk for formal evening wear.

Ham, my bad! I did not think it was a fly plaid, but I had never seen a woman wear anything remotely like this before and a Fly Plaid was the only thing I could compare to.
Be that as it may, if you have not seen it, it is a decent movie. Might give you a chickle with some of the royalty training and in-fighting. It is a young kids movie, and more targeted at the young girls that want to be princesses, but I enjoy watching it and have seen it more than a few times. Just never caught the kilt or sash before. Probably because this is the first time I have seen it since donning the kilt myself.
Cheers!

They're teenage girl movies, Hamish. Probably not your cup of tea. ;-)

Hmmmn! Rob and Sherry, you're probably right. It doesn't sound like my 'thing' at all. I greatly favour (and savour) all things Royal, but the real thing not the Walt Disney version! ;)
