This has probably been mentioned before, so at least its a chance to point out how cool my wife is about me being kilted, as she is always on the look out for kilt-stuff for me.
She came across a video for a group from the mid 60s called The Great Scots. They came from Halifax in Nova Scotia. And they all wore kilts. So, I, of course ran out and bought the CD (as shown below). Not bad stuff. They did make a small splash in the states and appeared on Shindig, Where the Action Is, and American Bandstand.
The reason they were promoted in kilts was a) Nova Scotia meaning new Scotland, b) to tag along with Paul Revere and the Raider's image, and 3) they were originally called The Beavers.
Somehow I can only imagine what the world would be like if they had made it REALLY big back then.
Hmm -- anyone know what tartan they're wearing?
Tony
