Kilts at the Pens-Sabres Outdoor Classic
Flipping through the reviews for the Outdooor Classic I saw a picture of the Pittsburgh Penguins walking to the rink next to a row of bagpipers.
Here's the link to the pic:

You would think someone at work would've mentioned that to me.
Oh wait, they're all Sabres fans here - the Pens could've been playing bagpipes and these guys wouldn't have noticed.
I recognize the outfit - it's one of the local pipe bands, but I don't remember their name offhand.
I am easily moved for sympathy for dogs, far more so than for humans, because dogs do not understand. There is no way to explain that you will return, that the vet will make it all better, that they cannot go shooting today because that is not what today is about. They cannot work out that their misery is finite and will some time end, and so their misery is magnified.

Great picture. You gotta know they were nice and toasty warm under them kilts. The hockey players were probably freezing their bums off though.

I don't care how warm the kilt is; I'd want gloves!

What I couldn't figure out when I was watching the game was why everyone was so bundled up. What is 20F like -1C? That's nothing, the Edmonton outdoor game in 2005 was -26C....I saw a few guys weraing full face balglavas. Sabres and Penguin fans should be tougher than that
Fun game though. I love seeing outdoor hockey it reminds of being a kid in Winterpeg. People in Southern BC don't get it when you try and explain the real hockey is played on a rink made in a field and with wramers in your gloves and vaseline on your ceeks to cut the wind.

In defense of the folks from the 'Burgh ... and the natives ... and the fans from Ontario ... the wind chill was -17 C.
