    Lame Panasonic ad

As far as I can tell, this is an ad for a TV that you can plug your ipod into. Dopey ad, but it has kilts. In the final shot, the hero is wearing jeans. I don't get it, but if you want to waste a couple of minutes......

    Thumbs down Ack.

Still... a poorly executed concept. At least they could have gotten good dancers!

I'll admit my knowledge of the differences in dance styles are non existent, but doesn't the Scottish dance normally employ a hands up method? Is that just in competitions? Also, I think the two guys on the sides were legitimately dancing, but Rob ManlyBeardAndSixPack Roy in the middle there was just shuffling his feet.

Agree! But for mass media the look is more important. At least they didn't put the kilts wrong side on

They spend a lot of bucks to do a commercial like this and often research and focus groups are used to adjust the concept before we ever see it. So the interesting this is, some ad agency's research folks decided that kilts would be a cool choice. Probably means they've noticed rising interest and positive response to kilts in the young demographic they're always aiming for.

That was great until they walked into the party. It's just like my friends do: rolling up in a van blasting pipe music and four guys in kilts pile out to turn the party into a real hooley.

After they got inside, it just got confusing. Are they Irish or Scottish? They listen to bagpipes and wearing kilts but do (extremely bad) Irish step dancing and have Irish accents. Basically another example of cultural confusion and ignorance...and people wonder why we need anthropologists!!!
