Kilts in the Media Was someone famous wearing a kilt? Did the media cover a Kilt issue?

At least it's a good cause...

I found this link for a Men In Kilts contest for The Ronald McDonald House in Michigan. One of the participants is Notre Dame Basketball coach Mike Bray.

Here's the link. Get ready to become frustrated....
Men in Kilts contest

Yup. You'd think that SOMEONE would have told the organizer that the pleats go in back...

The only two who are have it on correctly look as if they actually own the kilt they're wearing.

Ah well...

Baby steps.

Baby steps.

Ugh. The animated background chased me away. *shudder*

The format reminds me of fundraisers at university,
where it wasn't at-all about the costume/talent/appeal of the contestants,
only the willingness of their friends to open their purses to 'vote'.

It's a worthy cause and the fellas show good humor,
but realize the event isn't about kilts...

Looks like most of them aren't really kilts so much as a very light cotton fabric roughly pleated, with a faux plaid thrown over their shoulder... most are wearing the same sporran, as well. I'm guessing they just got some guys willing to photo themselves in something the organization provided. With the exception of the couple that look like they actually own their kilts, of course ;)

But as you said... good cause.

That is awesome, I would totally do it!

...And I would also do it in a tablecloth!

just cuz it's kilt-related, doesn't mean it has to be serious ...specially when the point is to have a great time raising money for a good cause.

Yup, I'd totally go MacDrapery for that. It'd be hilarious!

Ya see guys, this is very similar to the "Bonny Knees" contest. It doesn't matter what you're wearing.

Good find ...

That is great, I totally agree with wildrover... I think you need to add one "MacDrapery" to your collection just for fundraisers and it must be worn backwards as the precedence has been set by these gentlemen.

OK - I will agree that it is for a good cause and that we shouldn't take ourselves too seriously and that humour is also a way to bring non-kilt wearers into the fold -

Just please never make me look at that again!

Regards

Chas

I took a different outlook. Yes it is for a good cause, but that is no reason not to do it right. With all the Kilt for Hire places out there, they could easily have acquired several kilts for the models. Probably for free. They chose to make it into a circus act (which I suppose is fitting for a charity named after a clown). However I did drop a note to the organizer through the e-mail organizer link. I outlined my thoughts that the incorrect wearing of kilts at an event called men in kilts removes a bit of dignity from the event and by extension the charity. I would hate for that to harm the donations they receive, as they do good work.
