Local paper does a story on contempo kilts -- interviewed me!
Salt Lake Tribune -- Real Men Wear Kilts
They interviewed me for 20 minutes and all I got was a couple lines in the story. I used to be a reporter and I know I gave him a lot more great stuff! Oh well...
I also think it is a little lame that he used 5 pictures of himself, I sent him some great ones!
I also which he would have done a paragraph on all the kilted-at-work stuff I gave him.

Scotty, could be worse... Atleast you are not complaining about being misquoted. Fairly good article!

Not a bad wee article, I've read worse.

It does seem a bit odd that the reporter would focus on himself in the words and in the pics, but your quote was great! Can I have your autograph?

Reason: Since I quit teaching English four years ago, I can no longer splle...or is it spell?! :)

Great Article! However, leave it to the Tribune to mess up and not include you more. Makes me want to buy a utilikilt.

I think it's cool that the reporter actually wore a kilt himself. The reason he focused as much on his own experience as he did, I suspect, was the kind of reactions he got when wearing it, plus the novelty (for him) of being out of pants.

Nice article.
Matthew D. LaPlante is national security reporter for The Salt Lake Tribune.
Things are slow enough on his usual beat that this guy's doing a feature on kilts? Not going to complain.... (And it might have something to do with the general state of the newspaper industry, I guess.)
That said, someone (Kerr?) should really send him one of those nifty "Department of Highland Security" t shirts:

Good for you!
Last august I was interviewed by a reporter (And a bonnie young lassie reporter at that!) with video camera crew by PBS (USA Public Broadcasting System) at the Philadelphia Folk Festival because I was wearing a kilt. It was most likely the TV Station WHYY out of Wilmington Delaware and Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
With my customary “Third Day at the Party in the Campgrounds” inattention to detail I neglected to get information on the purpose of the taping and interview.
So out there somewhere in the video ether, or on the editing room floor, is my somewhat (as I recall) wild-eyed admonition: “Everyone should wear kilts!”
