    More Rowdy Roddy Piper

I was listening to Outlaw Radio last week, and Rowdy Roddy Piper was the guest. They replayed it again this evening.

Memorable kilt quote from Piper: "Why do I wear a kilt? Because pants just won't fit!"

The show is not for everyone, and I don't know that I'd recommend it because of the language and a lot of the subject matter, but they do have some interesting guests on there.

Does anyone know what tartan Roddy Piper wears? His real name is Toombs, but I didn't find a tartan for that name.

I have noticed at least 6 different ones in pics on the web... I couldn't tell ya what the names are..

I'd only seen him in the red one. Thanks for the other pics.

Any idea on what that tartan is?

Not sure what tartans he wears but Piper seems to have appeared in public wearing several different tartans over the years. I know he's Canadian and I think his real surname is originally British. The "Piper" character is nothing more than a gimmick but I can't say if he truly has any Scottish roots (I'll leave that to the real wrestling junkies to clarify).

If I understand it correctly, he played the bagpipes in a pipe band before he got into wrestling, hence the name, "Piper" when it came time to find a gimmick for his wrestling persona.

I'm kind of stunned that I only recognize 1 of his tartans that you guys posted... the VERY LAST pic of him in the red kilt with the black horse hair sporran is a Red Wallace kilt. My GUESS for the pic of him talking to the ref is Dress MacDonald/

Yeah I only remember him being in the red kilt growing up and I don't remember thinking anything bad about the guy wearing a kilt. IN fact, if I am not mistaken, he was probably my first exposure to a kilt...

I'll go with the Dress McDonald in the second picture, I looked for the other red tartan but could not find a match.
