Movie that SHOULD be made.

I know this has been brought up before, but I just thought that it should be said again:

Why isn't there a film about Mad Jack Churchill?!? I mean, you don't even need a screenwriter, the history books have it all! He lead his commandos into battle playing the bagpipes. He captured 42 German prisoners using only his claymore. Yeah, that's right, he carried a sword into battle. He escaped a German POW camp. Twice. His preferred weapon in battle was a bow and arrow. He faced down Palestinian rebels wearing a full Scottish military parade uniform, armed only with a swagger stick. Then, at age 40, he became a paratrooper. When that didn't work out (not his fault, the war ended) he learned how to surf in Australia.

He's like Kilgore, but with a sword and bagpipes...and more awesome.

It's a long read, but definitely worth the time.

that would make an awesome movie! it's amazing how many stories of bravery like "mad jack's" are out there. just goes to show the greatest stories are not always fiction.

I don't think Hollywood would touch it unless they could change a few concepts, like nationality.

Hollywood doesn't "do" films about good or successful British Army military exploits and martial skills.

I only need to mention the name "Montgomery" for Americans to go into "diss" mode.

Mad Jack certainly would make an interesting story, as would "Mad Mitch" of the Argylls in Aden. Years ago I met a fellow at a Civil War reenactment in Kansas City who had been an officer with the old Northumberland Fusiliers in Aden, and he told me some stories of Mad Mitch and the "700 Glengarried Men".

Sounds like it would be a great flick! But in Hollywood there has to be a P.C. message!

Sounds like it would help popularize kilts and boost kilt sales for sure - if the youngsters went to see the movie.
