Well done, Steve! Good answer to the question! Mayor Fortin looks pretty good in his new kilt, too.

Outstanding coverage of the tartan. It's already on my list for kilts for 2010.

Here is a computer generated look the the Victoria, City of Gardens Tartan.
It was registered with the Scottish Tartans Authority as #7992.
This Thursday evening in City Council this will hopefully be adopted as the "Official" Tartan of my adopted City.

And swatches of the actual fabrics.

And here is the description of the design.

"The six colors chosen for this Tartan come from the colors used on the Totem Poles of the First Peoples of our Provence. They were then arranged with a blue band to represent the ocean that surrounds us, a green band to represent our forests and parks, black bands to represent the roads that connect us, red to represent the bricks of our heritage buildings, and the yellow and white stripes to represent the "little spashes of color from our city's hanging baskets."

And here is a better shot of the Mayor's Kilt.

Very good, Steve.

I would like to see a link to the old, unadopted pink and torquoise Victoria tartan.

Nice tartan design Steve, congratulations on the press, it's good to see the mayor in a kilt.

I don't think the old one is ugly per say....I think it would look nice as a skirt cut on the bias. Not that I would go out and buy it, but if I was given some by somebody, I would make a skirt. lol.
