    Pixar movie "Brave"

I heard a blurb on the radio the other day about a new Pixar movie to be released in 2012 called Brave. It takes place in the rugged and mythic Scotland and the plot synopsis reads" the impetuous, tangle-haired Mérida (Reese Witherspoon), though a daughter of royalty, would rather make her mark as an archer. A clash of wills with her mother compels Mérida to make a reckless choice, which unleashes unintended peril on her father's kingdom and her mother's life. Mérida struggles with the unpredictable forces of nature, magic and a dark ancient curse."
The orginal working title was the Bear and the Bow. It will have star power voice overs with Billy Connolly,Reese Witherspoon,Emma Thompson and Julie Walters. I'm sure there should be some CG kilts to be seen.

I just did a quick search for it: http://pixar.wikia.com/Brave

The one "concept image" seems to show a figure in a "kilt"...with pleats to the front!

Or, perhaps, a very narrow apron. If it has pleats in back as well as front there is some historical precedent for that (e.g. the portraits of Lord Mungo Murray and Kenneth Sutherland, 3rd Lord Duffus).

What I found interesting is that he's wearing a (bearskin?) mantle over a belted plaid (i.e. mantle).

Looks to me more likely that it is meant to represent a great kilt.

OK, now I grant you that it will probably be more in line with other Pixar movies (which I have liked) than anything too historical, however I think that opening night (as way of in the future as it will be) calls for a KILT NIGHT by the rabble wherever we are.

Yeah, it definitely won't be historically accurate, since the ladies are wearing things that are more medieval and not Great Kilt-era.
