Portsmouth (NH) Burns Night makes the news!

A short write-up of the Portsmouth, NH, Burns Night festivities appeared in the Daily Democrat.

I fear some facts about Scots and their attire/cuisine may have become a little muddled -- no doubt with the assistance of the copious amounts of Scotch being imbibed -- but as the saying goes, there's no such thing as bad press.

"It's everything nobody else wants to eat. The Scotts were very thrifty," Boyd said.
Yes, the Scotts were thrifty. The rest of us spent money like water (look at our kilt kollections )
A Scot intending to war with someone would carry a small sword called a "dirk" underneath a kilt ...
Well, that gives a new answer to "What's under the kilt?"
But at least it made the paper, so the beginnings of awareness are there.
I am easily moved for sympathy for dogs, far more so than for humans, because dogs do not understand. There is no way to explain that you will return, that the vet will make it all better, that they cannot go shooting today because that is not what today is about. They cannot work out that their misery is finite and will some time end, and so their misery is magnified.

Mr. Boyd needs to be reminded that no cover is worn indoors.
