Possible Kilt sighting in Harry Potter...

The wife & I went to see the new Harry Potter tonight, and I think I may have spotted a kilted lad in the movie -- the scene in Hogsmeade, the village near the school. Anyone else see the movie and see the "kiltie, kiltie cold-bum"?

Not even a kilt scene would entice me to watch any of the harry potter films.

And I thought I was the only person on this planet who has never read a Harry Potter book, never seen a Harry Potter film, and never purchased any Harry Potter memorabilia ........ ditto "Lord of the Rings"!

Wild horses (free tickets and a limo to take me there) could not drive me to see such a film. Don't ask me why because I do not really have an answer, save that, anything receiving such OTT hype is doomed and cannot live up to expectation.

As I recall, the book does mention someone in a kilt and a poncho at Hogsmeade. I haven't seen the movie yet though...

That was actually a confused wizard at the Quidditch World Cup, that didn't quite get Muggle wear. Well, that's what some Harry Potter nerd told me last week while I was beating them up. Okay, fine. I'm the Harry Potter nerd.

I missed the kilt in the new movie. I'll have to look for it when I see it again. It makes sense that there would be kilts in Hogsmeade, since we all know Hogwarts is in Scotland.

Sean Biggerstaff (the actor who plays ‘Oliver Wood’ in the Harry Potter films) regularly wears a kilt, as in the following link, at the premier of one of the films.

Doc, I have to disagree with you. The first two Potter movies are absolute abominations. On the other hand, the third is very well done, having shed all of the cutesy little-kid crap and instead focusing on the novel’s dark tone.

I guess it gets down to a matter of opinion. But If you will think about it, Harry, Hermione, and Ron, are kids of 11 and 12 in the first two novels/movies. I'm not literature professor, but I didn't see much darkness in the first two novels. As you say, the tone of Prisoner of Azkaban is much darker than the preceding novels.

As the children get older, I think the story line will get darker, and more adult in nature. Quite frankly, I think that The Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix are a little too grown up to attract most younger readers.

Perhaps I've been overly excited to finally find a movie that has more in common with the novel on which it is based that the title and the names of a few characters. In any event, I've enjoyed all three of the Harry Potter movies, and all of the Harry Potter novels. In fact, I impatiently away the arrival of the next installment of both movie and novel.
