Shorecrest High Scool video: kilt sighting

Saw this on the Rachel Maddow show about two American high schools' AV clubs having a video challenge. This one has a kilted student at 1:14

Hey Ya: A music video

He also appears towards the end wearing a big foam head as some Scottish mascot. Fun piece!

Both my brothers graduated from Shorecrest HS. Considering they are the "Fighting Scots" I am surprised there were not more kilts. At the time they went Shorecrest had a full Pipe and Drum Corps in Gordon Tartan kilts.

Well done video... Impressive that it was just one shot!

Good video!! The kid in the kilt just fits right in. He acts like the kilt is a regular thing to him and not a costume.

I have been teaching video production in high school and colleges for twenty years, Never have I seen a single shot video go that well without some child deciding to do his own thing and move off script. Very well done.

Interesting mascot, does it offend Scottish natives? This discussion about mascots grows daily in the states. Should we use Native American names such as Chiefs, Indians, Braves and Native American characters as mascots.

For those of you who thought this video was well done, look at their rival Shorewood's response:

Shorewood Lip Dub

My principal would have a stroke...

It looks like a fun school, with lots of school spirit. Go Scots!

PS: I think Shorewood wins the prize. Watch it very carefully and see if you notice why.

Hmm. Shorecrest vs. Shorewood. It's a tough call, really. I've watched both and really enjoy each on their own merits for different reasons. Shorewood is impressive but Shorecrest has better lip-sync IMO. I really don't think I could choose a clear winner here. :-)
