Post Smurf in a kilt ?

i was looking through the daily mail website tonight and spotted a story about the new smurf movie out in 2011 and was surprised to see a wee smurf in a kilt (of sorts)

these are the models used during filming and the computer effects will be added later but i cant remember any smurfs from the 80s cartoon with a kilt on ...............with a wee bit of googleing i found out that the scottish smurf will be known as "gutsy smurf" and will be voiced by alan cumming
certainly a new take on kilts within film media

    That's cool.

I'm glad they added new smurfs for the movie, but I have to question if the world really needs a smurf movie...do kids even watch the smurfs anymore?

    (OT warning!)

Heh, the thread's title made me think of the Helsinki public transport ticket controllers, who are informally called "smurfs" because of their blue outfits, and because they often are big and bulky (that's the Finnish sense of humour). Wonder what those dontmesswithme guys would look in kilts...

Of course his name will be gutsy smurf, because we all know that it takes a real smurf to wear the kilt.

No kidding, I thought exactly the same thing when I saw the proposed name..."well, of course he's Gutsy Smurf!"

Is it just me, or are Smurfette and Papa Smurf the only ones with pupils in their eyes? The rest look like little blue zombies.
