I'm posting this in "Kilts in the Media", a stretch at best, a bann for the original poster - worst case. As a Burlingtonian, I apologize to all my forum bretheren. For those about to cast stones, Uncle Ricky is also from Burlington. Original link. Quote:
In an attempt to set a Guinness World Record, 1,000 kilt-clad runners will take to Burlington’s streets this weekend.
On Sunday, the 30th annual Robbie Burns run will take place in Burlington’s downtown. To add a twist to this year’s event honouring “the greatest Scot”, as he was named in 2009, participants will be given an “Instakilt” to sport over their running attire.
Organizers are hoping to set a world-record for most kilted runners in a road race.
Scottish expat and Toronto resident James Buchanan began working on the Instakilt, a kilt-patterned towel that looks like an actual kilt, in 2004. By 2006 Buchanan had perfected the design, secured a manufacturer and in no time at all Instakilts were being sold in tourist shops, airports and department stores throughout the U. K.
Buchanan maintains the Instakilt is not just for the Scottish, “it seems to bring a smile to everyone who sees it, regardless of their nationality,” he says. “I think everyone loves a kilt.”
Race director Bob Brake said in past years, up to 50 participants have sported a kilt during the Robbie Burns run. This year, with each of the 1,050 participants sporting the Instakilt, Burlington’s downtown will be lit up in tartan.
The race begins at 9 a. m. at Burlington Central High School, 1433 Baldwin St. and finishes at the same location. For more information visit www.burlingtonrunners.com .

I think that the rabble can have a bit of a smile at such silliness
Cheers

Does this call for a SOKS presence?
