TV commercial shown on TBS Atlanta Braves games

I was watching the Atlanta Braves game last night and they ran a commercial where Jeff Francour Atlanta outfielder) was hitting autographed baseballs across the Atlantic. He hit one to a boy, and they show it crossing the Atlantic and passing over a kilted Scottsman watching over his herd of sheep and eventually being caught by the boy who requested it in a small town (Scotland?). It's not on screen long, but the guy is wearing a kilt in a light colored tartan. I think it is a commercial for an Airline.

You are correct, it is an ad for Delta Airlines. Just a brief moment of the kilted gent.

Probably Delta Airlines promoting their new daily direct Atlanta-Edinburgh service which started three weeks ago.

Hmmm! Viewed the advert and it doesn't look like the boy who received the autographed ball was anywhere in Scotland. The address on his letter is Copenhagen, the building with the clock tower is Copenhagen's radhus or town hall and at the end they mention flights to Copenhagen and 400 other destinations so the other shots of the boy were probably also filmed in Copenhagen - he has the blond hair of a Scandinavian and the buildings look Scandinavian in style. I'm surprised they are plugging Copenhagen rather than their new service to Edinburgh.

Me neither, but Delta's December 2005 issue of Sky magazine contains an article on the festival of Hogmanay, featuring a photo of a flaming-ball-wielding kiltie.

Some good observations my friends. Atlanta Braves/ Delta Airline; Baseball/ Boys. Exporting baseball to the many continents whether it's via Delta Airlines or direct hits out of the park is sound economics, good international relations, and just plain FUN! Play Ball!
