Utilikilts on the Military Channel

A quick heads up to anyone online right now. On The Military Channel at this time is a show about building a siege engine. The guys in the 4 man crew are wearing Utilikilts.

I didn't watch the whole show myself, because I was switching to the show during the commercials on the British open broadcast. At the beginning all four of the main guys in the build were wearing Utilikilts. The commentator described them as being ideal for working in the desert because the provided "lots of ventilation." Hew also correctly called them Utilikilts. I was somewhat disappointed because three of the four guys only wore their kilts at the start of the show. The fourth, however, stayed kilted throughout the entire build.

It's called "Superweapons of the Ancient world", episode is "The City Destroyer", originally aired in 2005, about building a 4th century siege tower.

Only the one is still in a utilikilt.

In 2004 I wrote my Colonel an email explaining the benifits of wearing a kilt in the desert environment. I encluded all the statistics on the number of groin rashes I had treated over the last 8 months or so, and some other fun facts and ideas. I also included a photo of me in my kilt standing on the roof with my #@$% (names of objects being held in my hands deleted as to not offend those with sensativities). It was of course a joke, and I found out that the Colonel also had a sense of humor. He sent me a very professional reply thanking me for my research and recommendations, but explained the limitations with Govt. bids, and contracts and licensiing etc. He did however forward my email and photo to Corporate offices and State Department officials. Some where in Dubai, there is a photo of me in my battle rattle and Kilt next to a water cooler in the break room.
