    Vanity Fair

Kilts in Vanity Fair? You bet!

Being the sucker I am for period pieces, I rented VF this weekend. Around the middle of the movie, the soldiers are sent off to fight at Waterloo. When the soldiers return, they're lead by a Scottish regiment playing bagpipes. There are about 20 soldiers in kilts. I couldn't tell what tartan they were. Looked kind of like the Rob Roy tartan.

    "Waterloo"

Rufus, have you seen the 1970's movie "Waterloo" with Christopher Plummer as the Duke of Wellington, and Rod Stiger as Napoleon? The movie's okay, but there are several nice shots of the 92nd (Gordons) and the Black Watch at Waterloo and before -- a great scene with the Watch marching by Wellington singing "Macpherson's Lament", the Gordons doing a sword dance at a ball in Brussels, and then the Gordons and Scots Grey's charge at Waterloo, with colours flying and the pipers playing "Cock o' the North" -- stirring!

"Are these AMAZONS all Wellington can send against me?"

    Cheers,

    Todd

I haven't seen that movie. I'll have to keep an eye out for it, altough knowing this town...I'll never find it.

Hmmm...so did the Scottish soldiers help spark the idea for Wonder Woman?
