It was an exhibition they have a few years ago. It showcased many good looking kilts. I didn't like Camo Kilt before, but after seeing the TFCK Camo kilt, I want one now.

Hilfiger might be right to a point, but he just doesn't consider those of us with the family heritage and Americans interest in their roots. Of course, Tommy has a big vested interest in the fashion staus quo.

It's interesting that he insults the kilt, but still markets his own version.

He might change his mind if he got around a pipe band or a St. Andrew's Society.

If you ever really look at Hilfigers lines there really isn't anything distinctive or unique. It's kinda like "me too" designer clothing. Appeals to label snobs and, frankly, the mass market stuff with his name on it is overpriced and poorly made.

I used to own a couple of his ties, but you're correct about the quality of his items -- it's Brooks Brothers, Ben Silver, and anything from Jermyn Street for me!

A quality kilt is a complicated garment to assemble, much to complicated for the sweat shop production lines of Hilfiger's "empire."

"Last year a documentary on "Life and Debt" in Jamaica showed as Tommy Hilfiger and Hanes benefited from the tax-free labor of Jamaican workers earning the equivalent of $30 every two weeks in the country's Free Trade Zones."

I grew up working in a sweatshop...for free...a famiy business then. Probably no where as bad as the overseas sweatshops, but I know what it is to be ten years old working hard in a factory.

So, sorry, anything Tommy Hilfiger has to say about kilts, made by craftsmen and factories who treat their employees fairly and pay them well, rings hollow.
