Or is Samson wearing a kilt in this picture? I thought about posting this in the general kilt section, wasn't sure.

I see a wide belt, an apron folded over another apron, and what looks to be a sporran pouch thingamajigger.

I saw this and my mind associated what he was wearing as "kilt."

Am I alone in this association?

I have seen that picture before. It has been years. I do not know it the depiction is historically accurate or if it simply 1 artists idea of dress at that time. Maybe we can get some of our clothing historians in on this

Looks like the Egyptian wraps you see on the walls of old tombs and what not.

It is easy to see how the kilt may have evolved from such garments.

Not strictly a kilt because although the material partly overlaps at the front it doesn't have the full overlapping front aprons of a proper kilt, but yes I'm with you on this Dread to the extent that it appears to be a kilt style garment.

I think I see little tassles on the pouch too. Or something dangling down in the front, along with what looks like a fringe or something on the flap.

Maybe it's a prototype utilikilt!

I think Delilah got the negatives refersed at the local photomat as this would be mre like a kilted skirt as the apron closes on the left hip.
