    Appalachian State...

Sorry to any Wolverine fans on the forum but I do need to stick my chest out a little. How about those Mountaineers! I know it is because I am an App State alum that they won!

That was stellar! I have spent a good amount of time in Boone and some of my best friends went to App. Loved to see that upset (esp. after Herbstreet's comments about ASU that morning on CGD - -nice!)

(to tie this to ON TOPIC stuff and not get in trouble -- the southern appalachians were mostly peopled by Scots. That victory was reminisent of Stirling, where there appeared to be a huge disadvantage to kilted Scots....

    are we okay now?)

We are always ok if we are talking about the ASU Mountaineers!

In other news, a while back I tried to get the University to adopt a custom App State tartan. I never could get enough of the right people on board to make it happen. Maybe I will give it another shot in the near future.

Of course, App State is one of the BEST "second tier" football teams in the country.
(Note: VERY few ACC or SEC teams like to play them, for the SAME reason Michigan found out).

Now, how about them Tigers over Florida State in the "Bowden Bowl" . . .

Major congratulations from just down the mountain in Winston-Salem! Unfortunately, my alma mater Wake Forest took it on the chin from BC, losing our QB and a couple of linemen in the process. Hey, if the Appies don't want a black & gold tartan, maybe the Deacs will!

I'm a huge Michigan fan, so I remain definatly proud but I give full credit to App State for coming in and playing their game, executing under the conditions was a heck of a trial in itself. They don't call it the big house for nothing. Congrats to that program, good for them.

On the other side the maize and blue did exactly what I've been fearful of for the last decade. Michigan plays down to little programs, takes the games for granted and their laxidasical play against those teams speaks volumes about how Carr runs that program. Even if they had I'm not sure they'd have won anyway but it would have been a lot more likely.

As a sidenote I was wearing a Michigan ball cap saturday night when a dude actually yells at me down a hotel hallway "Hey! You shouldn't be wearing that hat! Didn't you hear?" to which I replied "Yes and I really don't care, giving up on your school is for lesser teams." he said something about being an Ohio state fan and I just said "Well, that explains your manners." Freaking downright rude. Sorry, just venting.
