    Bad Day on Stone Hill

I'm crying in frustration. Usually I hate this kind of post and I promised myself I wouldn't write one . However It has just welled up inside me all day.

I came out of the house and 6.20 this morning to find my Freelander without both it's airbags.....We had had "visitor's during the night . There is a band of car thieves operating in the area who target only Airbags. The bonnet was broken up and the leads removed from the battery. Nothing else was taken

Just when you think life is going all right after a difficult period you get a slap in the face and a bill to match (Insurance doesn't cover everything).....

What I'd like to do to those guys if I caught them would keep me in the confessional all week......

    ...Rant ends

    Only all week?

I know how you feel. I really do. I came home from the office one day about three years ago to find my dogs locked in a back bedroom and the house completely ransacked. They were in the house for at least an hour, and took pretty much everything with a firing pin or an electrical plug.

The burglars apparently broke the lock on my back gate and pulled a "landscaping" truck into the back yard from the alley, and left someone standing in the back yard running a weed whacker to cover the noise.

They left a couple of the computers stacked next to the back door, but took the DVDs, DVD player, television, stereo, DSL "modem," hubs, switches, keyboards, shotguns, rifles... even my beard trimmer.

Were I to catch them, confession would be among the least of my worries.

Sorry to hear that David. I saw a story on 20/20 or Dateline about used car dealers who were removing the airbags and selling the car without them. I guess the price tag on a replacement air bag is worth the risk

On a lighter note, this could be one of those defining moments in the sporran business though. A Sporran-AB, sporran-air bag Can you envision the Crash Test for that? A CO2 cartridge attached to a balloon tucked into the sporran, then BOOM............... ok, so there are some details to work out.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. Thieves and vandals are amongst the lowest of the low. I've been there. I've had my jeep broken into and trashed twice. There are no words to explain what I would have liked to do to the people that did it.

Thieves and vandals think they commit victimless crimes because people have insurance, but they are wrong. As you said insurance doesn't cover everything, and in addition there are deductibles, and claims are generally followed by increased premiums. Never mind the fact that if there were no thieves and vandals, we wouldn't need insurance for them ...

    David,

I'm sorry you got targeted for theft.

It was a costly and distressing thing, and the people who make their living by thieving are very low creatures indeed.

Rant away my friend! I understand the frustration, as many times things like that have happened to me.

Ugh. I had my closet CLEANED OUT when I was in high school. I had quite the assortment of expensive Sports jerseys. It's sickening...
