Basic Pay Pal Question

Feel silly to ask it, but can't find an answer in the jumble of Pay Pal info.

I have a Pay Pal account. I've only used it to pay other folks on line. If I have that account does that mean I can also receive funds from other folks on line, or do I have do do something additional with my Pay Pal account to get money?

Trusting the wisdom of the board on this. Thanks for any feedback.

You do but I believe the limitation is it has to be cash - ie they cannot use a credit card to send you money.

In order to get it out though, you have to hook it up to your bank account - something I've never been very comfortable doing. I tend to just leave the cash in there until I need to buy something, and then just use it.

I have on my website and our theater site links from paypal where money can be donated. Ours is set up for credit card, all through paypal. You do have to have a bank account, and I transfer money back and forth quite often and never have had problems.

When you sign in to paypal, check the tab for merchant services and then when that page loads, check the box of links on the right, 3/4 of the way over from the left, and click on donations or buttons to sell items, what ever you want to do.

You should certainly be able to receive money. One thing though: make sure your account is set up as "verified." It's been so long since I did that. But, basically it involves Paypal making a couple of small deposits in your account (usually less than a dollar) and then you contacting them and telling them how much they deposited. An extra safety step. Also, if you receive money from someone through Paypa, heed my advice and make sure THEY are verified and have a verified shipping address as well. I'm in the middle of a knock-down drag out with Paypal because some turd in Florida apparently frauded me and the holder of a credit card! It's looking pretty bleak for me though, because the address I shipped to was not verified. I got to complacent and just shipped when I got payment. It looks like I'll be out $60 and a jersey (been selling off old sports memorabilia on Ebay.)

You don't have to have a merchant account to receive money. I made that mistake and was able to back out of it. As long as your sender has a PayPal account, he or she just clicks on the Send tab and enters your PayPal registered email. Easy 1-2-3.

I believe the only restriction is that you cannot accept credit cards from non-paypal folks.

You should be able to receive money from another paypal account no problem.

But be aware that they will take a cut of around 3-4 %.
