Burns, of course, would be number one on my list. The late George MacDonald Fraser would be second. The third is a bit more tricky; either Hamish Henderson, the noted Scottish folklorist, Vance Randolph, the Ozark folklorist, Viscount Slim of Burma or Barry Goldwater.

2. Christopher McCandless. College student who, upon graduation, gave up everything he owned to embark on a life of simplicity.

I once had lunch with a dead guy, thankfully he wasn't in a talkative mood. I was doing a Roman grave excavation, it was about a 100* in the field and his grave had the only shade I could find. Made for a real nice place to hang out.
