    DIY Bagpipes

I came across this article on making bagpipes out of PVC pipe some time ago. I've decided to share it so all the pipers and listeners can get a laugh. If anyone trys this let us know.

when i first read this title i had visions of the Lawsons commercial where the Lawson kilted pipers have a face off against the brits (i think) http://www.zooproductions.be/films02...wson_s_3B.html

A very funny - albeit somewhat sick - commercial...

I've seen the Lawsons commercials and think their hilarious. The PVC Bagpipes are just one of the odd things I've found on the net and bookmarked.

I'm presently making a similar set of smallpipes out of PVC, copper tubing, etc. I'll post some pics when I'm done.

Laugh all you want...I have one of Doug Tipple's PVC Irish Flutes and it's phenomenal. No muss, no fuss, stays in tune...sounds great.

PVC is the new African Blackwood.

I made a set of pipes from PVC based on Dennis' plans a few years back. They're quite playable and while they don't have the fullness and sweet tone of a normal set of pipes, they're usable and quite the novelty to pull out in a group of pipers.
