    Evening walk

Wife & I were out for our regular evening power walk, last night.
As usual, I was kilted, in a SWK Black Watch, sporran, black jump boots.
I've rapidly grown accustomed/numb to the curious glances of passerby, and the ocassional "redneck whoop" from passing cars.
We walk on the local school campus & nature educational center grounds, with lots of wooded trails. Many joggers pass us there, and just give a wry little smile, as they pass.
As we were finishing our walk, about 8pm, the sun long set behind the mountains, it was starting to get dark.
We were making our way back home, across the football & soccer practice fields. Several teams were finishing up practice, as we walked around the sidelines.
Suddenly a voice, in the near darkness, yelled out loudly:"What Tartan?"
It kind of took me by surprise, expecting to hear "hut-hut" or other sport-related talk.
I responded with "Black Watch"... not knowing exactly who was asking.
"What clan do you relate to?"
    "Stewart!"
Turns out, it was one of the coaches, asking.

Always pleasant to experience reasonable questions & responses while out & about & kilted.

If this is the men's department, where are the kilts?

    LOL!
It was dark enough, and just enough distance, that I probably wouldn't recognize him the next time I see him!

Heck... I was just happy as it was. With all the adolescent testosterone flowing around the fields, combined with the rather rural community I live in... I fully expected to hear something derogatory. (which I was prepared to ignore)

Just goes to show you... can't judge by stereotype.

Probably a good coach. Observes, thinks, asks, thinks, etc.

Now to get him and the other coaches into kilts.
The other team would think they were in the sequel to "Braveheart" when they showed up on the field.

I know others have posted similar happenings, but I was in a 7/11 lately. I was wearing Gordon, and the kid says, "Hi Mr. Gordon"

It's always neat when a tartan is recognized!

I know all my tartans, but all-in-all, I can probably only recognize by sight 150 tartans myself!
