Going to be in NC around the 15-19 of April 2009
Never to early to plan a little trip! I will be in Concord, NC, the the 15-19 of April 2009 for the 30th Annual National Tattoo Assoc. Convention and Competition. Looking at some maps, it looks as if Franklin is only about 4-5 hours away from there. It's early I know, but I'm thinking I need to meet our own Matt Newsome and visit the STM.

If you have the time and don't mind the drive, I can recommend a visit to the Museum.

Unless it's moved, Concord is much closer than that. It's just outside of Charlotte, and we are only about 3 hours drive from Charolotte. Do come up and see us (that's close to my birthday!)

Wow! Thanks for the response, all. I would love to meet up with any X-Markers I could. And really, after getting that close, there is no way I will let slip the chance to pop over to Franklin. Besides, I'm hoping to be in a position to order another Newsome kilt before then as well. I've been spending a little time looking at a few of those beautiful tweeds!

By all means, visit Matt, just watch out for those mountain roads. I didn't know what a "switchback" was until I drove down to Franklin to order a kilt through Matt several years ago.

Oh, yes please!
Just a whisker north of Charlotte, if I remember correctly.

Franklin is West of Charlotte, and I wouldn't fret over mountain roads, it's all highway driving from Charlotte.
