It is good to hear that some governments still listen to the people. Here's to the Ghurkas

That is fantastic, better news than I had today about my retirement.

The Ghurka in the middle has three of the same medals as I have.

Excellent news... Gives one hope that politicians can get it right, once in awhile.

She told the interviewer that her father was a commander of Ghurka troops in India in the 1940-50's, so she felt strong ties with this unit. That's why she went to bat so strongly for them.
Joanna Lumley is not a politician though, she is still an actress, but one who had enough passion about this subject to get involved, and enough determination to get the result everyone wanted. She is currently resisting calls to get her to become an MP!

It shames me that such fine and loyal soldiers have been treated this way by the British Government. As a fromer soldier I am pleased that their service will now be recognised.

Most Americans will know her from the British comedy "Absolutely Fabulous", although we...ahem...older members will remember her in the afore mentioned "New Avengers" as well.

I saw a little in the Commons questions.
One of those subjects where “what’s right is right” is not the same as what it might cost…?
Or is that a false issue?

HELLO! If you fight for a country and it's way of life, and likely losing friends and family along the way, you should be able to live there to enjoy the benefits of your sacrifices and hard work.....

I'm really shocked that this was an issue
