Good luck, Gretna, it's nice to see a young team making its mark. And I'd rather see Gretna win the cup then any of the other three teams still in the competition - even though they knocked out the team I support - St. Mirren.

We have something similar going on here in the USA. James Mason, a small Virginia University has made it all of the way through the NCAA bsketball tournament to be among the final 4 teams left playing for the national championship. The field started with 64 teams. The format is one loss and you go home. Along the way, Mason has beaten 3 former national champions including the teams which won the tournament the last two years. The 64 teams are divided into 4 regions, each with 16 teams. In their region, Mason was rated the 11th best team, and in the lower third of the entire field of 64.

Well congrats to Gretna! Nice work.

George Mason (see prev post from Jerry) plays tonight. We'll see if the local team here fares as well as yours.

    Excellent Result.
    CONGRATULATIONS GRETNA

Now they should go on to win the cup - all they need to do is beat an Edinburgh side.

    CONGRATULATIONS to Gretna FC!

By the way, what tartan does the FC wear? Does it have its own or do they sport either the Gretna Green or the Gretna Gold tartans?

I watched for a glimpse of a kiltie at the game when it was shown (briefly) on BBC News last night, but there was not one to be seen - nothing but black and white chequered flags and scarves!!
