Finland is the home of heavy metal!
Finland have just won the 2006 Eurovision song contest and with what an entry! Band that really stands out of the other lame pop entries. Monster Hard-Rock band Lordi from Rovaniemi, Finland took the all time points record of Eurovision song contest! What a victory, what a shock! At last a serious winner! We only competed in Eurovision 40 times so far and our best entry was I think 6th. Now Lordi really rocked the contest!
And if you like to watch the entry song music video, here it goes:

Is this why KISS wore make-up?
Do they really look like that on stage? ...another example of allowing "the look" to overtake the music.

OK I watched the video; I'm not impressed. They look like Klingons who went to a horror film make-up artist, and then stole KISS's wardrobe hand-me-downs.
...and apparently the "singer" can't sing.
Sorry if ya'll like that, but I just don't get it.

Hehe, the band met at KISS fan cruise. The lead singer is the chairman of Finnish KISS fanclub "The KISS Army". And some of their lyrics read "Solo (Bruce Kulick)". And even Bruce himslef told they rock. You remember, KISS mania turned downward spiral when they removed their masks.
Hard Rock never been only music, it is also the show...
And Mr. Lordi himself said: "Some say that horror is a sub-genre of comedy. I believe this is true. It’s not humorous, we’re not meant to burst out laughing, but it’s fun and entertainment. It’s the same thing with riding a roller coaster over and over again. Some people would never do it. For others, it’s fun."

Not a big fan of the Eurovision song contest (all that lame pop-stuff), but I did see the Finish entry. Agree, finally a song that deserves to win!
Congratulations Finland and Rovaniemi
PS
No, the Finnish entries haven't been that memorable prior to this one - all I can remember is Rikki Sorsa's "Reggae OK" And that is going back how far? 25 years?

Crazy. It was very GWAR-like.
