HELP - Genealogy!!
Hey, there!
I would have swore that I read a post last night that mentioned an excellent genealogy website...I can't remember who posted it and I can't find it! Perhaps it was all a dream?!
If any of you also read the post and can direct me to it, I'll be very appreciative!
Thanks!

It was I who has been whiling away my time at rootsweb.com. The free site is called WorldConnect. The best place to start may be here: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi
Happy hunting,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Rex's site is wonderful. I also use Ancestory.com. You will have to join, but my wife is building our trees using it.
Enjoy.
For those interested The National Geographic Society is in partnership with IBM running "The Genographic Project". They send you cheek swabs and you send them in to have your DNA anylized. This will not tell you where your great grand father was from because it is to track human migration routes.
Bobbie and I gave each other the kits for Christmas presents. Her mDNA is already posted. Mine are being batched. And as a male I can track both mDNA and Y chromosome.
It won't help you find your Scottish roots but it's fun and informative.

If you have Scottish roots you can also sign up for www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk which is an official site letting you search for and view birth death and marriage records on a pay per view basis.

If you are interested in genetic genealogy, the very best place is Family Tree DNA at www.ftdna.com. It has by far the largest database, and hence you are more likely to find some one who matches your or a male relative's DNA there.
Their FAQ is very good at explaining how genetic testing can and cannot help your genealogical research.
