    House of Gordon Cousins

Orvis has men's wool tartan pants on sale, $50 off. They don't give a weight, but the fabric seems around 11oz or less.

The only tartan left is a color Orvis calls "Sage."

But when it arrived I could swear it was the same as weathered Gordon.

When I compare it to my weathered Gordon kilt its off in that there are no yellow threads in the pants and the black tartan lines are slightly different. But the two background colors are spot on.

For some reason the front slash pockets are made like none I've ever seen. Both sides have a purposly sewn in opening at the top on the inside so if I wanted to I could scratch my belly or something....or hang them from a pole. Think I read some of you have these...would appreciate any clues about those pocket holes.

Having looked at the catalog I believe it is part of the "comfort waist mechanism" I have owned several pair of p-nts like that. I have always found it odd that it gets called "comfort waist" or the like, when I find it anything but. I would much rather have the wide elastic band like a sans-a-belt style.

That "Sage" pattern looks like "weathered Black Watch", nice!

Well...they do look better than I would have thought...if ya gotta, ya gotta...just do it with flair!

Oh, dammit...you beat me to that one!

Maybe they're there on the assumption that you're going to travel and will be wearing one of those money belts under your pants and you need to get access to it to get your traveller's cheques out?

Hey...makes as much sense as anything else that I can think of!

Sounds good, but I'd rather have Gordon modern trousers.
