ideas for gifts for the best man

G'day folks!

Here's the thing: as some of you know, I'm travelling to the USA to get married and will be wearing a kilt instead of the usual tux (woohoo! ). However, I'm a bit stuck for a gift for my best man - a dear friend of mine who I have known since childhood, and is now living and working in the US.

I wanted to give him something that shows thought, good taste, care and consideration. What I don't want is some 'orrible tasteless item - so many websites suggest gifts for men that just are not appropriate for this friend of mine.

So, as you're all men (and women) of quality and open minds, does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of a Scottish Quaiche - I thought that a "cup of friendship", coupled with the scottish theme implied by my Wallace kilt, might be appropriate.

Any thoughts?

The quaich certainly "fits the bill" for your wedding, and the symbolism is appropriate as well.

Will the best man be wearing a kilt? If so, a nice kilt pin would also make a good gift, or perhaps a pocket flask with a Scottish theme (if he likes a "wee dram" now and then).

When I was married, I gave my best man a set of Wilkinson Sword cufflinks to wear at the wedding.

Unfortunately, no. He originally intended to wear a kilt, and was quite happy to do so, however fate stepped in and finances dictated otherwise. I'm just pleased to have him by my side on this very important day.

Sounds like the quaich is your best route, then. Be sure to get one with a plinth, which is a stand for the quaich.

A quaich would be good.

There are also a number of items here that you might also want to look at, especially if you want to come up with a custom design for a kilt pin, ring, cufflinks, tie tack, or something. They've got a section for "Attendants Gifts," but the rest of their work is very nice too.

Yu are right about the 'gift lists' they always seem like just trinkets.
The Scottish Quaiche sure sounds like a wonderful way to remember the wedding and your friendship.

If he carries a pocket knife, maybe get him a nice new pocket knife. I would suggest either Cold Steel, Spyderco and last but not least Benchmade.

I wasn't sure what a "Scottish Quaiche" but a moment on Google fixed that....one does learn alot of different things on XMarks.
