    Kilted piper needed(?!!)

Here's an unusual "business opportunity" posted on the San Francisco Craig's List:

We are looking to hire a Bagpiper to walk the Bay to Breakers Race with us. We are travelling from Boston, Vegas, Chicago, NYC, Baghdad and other points. We have about 30 guys walking/drinking through the race in kilts and other traditional attire and we need your services if you play the bagpipes. We are willing to pay $200+. We will also buy all of the libations you can engorge yourself with on race day and most of the night before. This is a serious post and our intentions are good. We have been going to the race for many years and are now looking to add a little music to the mayhem. Please let us know if you are interested.
Must have own kilt, Experience palying bagpipe preferred

That leads to the question of how can you tell if a piper is experianced or not. They all sound alike!

All kidding aside, that sounds like a good gig.
Armageddon was yesterday. Today we have real problem.

    they certainly do not !

there are some very bad pipers around , to start do they strike in clean or are the drones howling at the start?
are the pipes in tune and is the chanter scale in tune?
are doublings and grace note played cleanly? does the tune stop dead or again are the drones howling.
a properly played set of in tune pipes will sound good to most people, the people who say "I cant stand bagpipes" have normally been the victim of a hack piper!

all pipers should remeber they are ambassadors for the pipes.

I've heard enough piping that I can recognize all the things you've mentioned. No offense was intended.

do they realize that "all the libations" will effectivly drain their vendor's dry, run them out of business and more than likely get them kicked out of any further events?
