Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Woohoo! Our first snowfall of the season started tonight around 6pm. Almost 2 inches of the white stuff on the ground already, more expected overnight. Should make for an interesting morning, this will be my first time driving a bus in it.

Your talking about that white stuff that they use in all the Christmas movies, right?

I think that would be terrible, hiding all the flowers and new grass shoots.

Yeah... we don't get that here, well, not much. The last snow fall didn't really come in flakes but something of a cross of a snow material in a hail shaped pellet. A couple inches of that followed that night by a couple inches of freezing rain. We got pictures if you want to see them. It was actually cool to see but interesting on the roads. When the ice covered snow pellets started to melt it made effective slush. Yeah... thats the kind of stuff we get.

edit: reading this post it sounds very negative. It just has been so long since a good, fun snowfall that what sticks out is the bad effects of it. The slush for one. If you live where snow can be enjoyed, enjoy it for me, and I will enjoy the rain and green grass in the winter for you.

It makes my Garden just as nice as my neibours .

Be careful with that Bus Al . Do you have snow chains. Here the driver just pushes a button and they are lowered onto the Tarmac works well .

No snow chains for our buses.
When it snows here it rarely sticks around for more than a few days. The biggest problem comes from all the drivers who forget what it's like to drive on snow. Couple that with the fact that Calgary is built on a very hilly area and there's usually a rash of crashes during the first snowfall.
I'll report back later on how things went. My first shift starts at 6:27, right at the start of the morning rush. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Oh yeah, this is for Steve...PPPPPPPPhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhtttttttttttttt! LOL

For those of you who are not Canadian, my first post is an inside joke.
Those of us from Victoria are always reminding the rest of Canada that the weather here is so "un-wintery".
    Sorry about that.

Sadly, Victoria makes Vancouver look like a winterwonderland in comparison, and we get next to no snow at all.

Snow is such a beautiful event! The first few snowfalls bring such a freshness about everything. Unfortunately people think they are invinceable and drive like it is still dry on the roads. Then the snow becomes something I do not cherish. Now if I could just stay in and watch the flakes fall, that may be a different story.

Here in the DC area it seems there are two types of people driving in the snow. The first are those who drive like nothing has happened, and the second are those who just creep along. In most cases when it snows, something between these two speeds is called for.

I do think that snow is beautiful when you can watch it out the window.
