From the sounds of things, Dave, you might need to borrow my kevlar kilt, hose etc. Someone is stalking you, if you didn't realize it.

I used to visit the weaving room of the man who made Kevlar cloth for uniforms - I think the Police Force.

Perhaps I ought to look for his address?

It seems that everyone involved in these escapades should not leave home without doning the Kevlar.

Just got to catch up on this tale this morning. As they say "we'll sell you the whole seat, but you'll only need the edge." This one definately keeps you on the edge of your seat! Can't wait for the next exciting installment.

Scene 51

As we entered the foyer of the tower, I noticed the gloom of its interior. Small lanterns were set about the room, but they provided little light.

“Odd,” said Trefor. “No one greeted us.”

“You’re right,” I answered. “You would think the owner would like to know when someone enters his home.”

“Oh, rest assured. He knows. Hurry, we must find Jack.”

“Which way?” I asked.

“Down,” Trefor answered. “Evil thrives in the darkness and it is always darkest underground.”

“There are stairs over there,” the Wrecker said, pointing to the doorway.

We moved to the doorway and began to move down the stairs, with Trefor in the lead. He held his lantern high, but the glow from its flame seemed to grow dimmer as we progressed. We could almost physically feel the darkness pressing in on us.

We had descended by about fifty feet when the stairwell ended by opening into a large stone chamber. Several lit torches were set about the walls of the circular chamber, casting a dismal glow about the room. As we looked around, we could see occult symbols carved into the stone all around us. A large pentagram had been carved into the floor of the chamber.

And there, in the center of the chamber, was the object of our search. A large wooden, x-shaped cross had been erected in the center of the pentagram and tied to the cross was Jack. He was slumped forward against the ropes that bound him, as though he were unconscious. He had been stripped naked and strange symbols hade been carved in his flesh.

“By all that’s holy!” Trefor gasped and we all headed towards the bound man.

I had just reached the cross, when Trefor called out in warning. “Wait!” he said. “Something is wrong here.”

“What is it?” Steven asked.

“We’re not alone,” Trefor answered in warning, as the shadows around the chamber began to move.

As the shadows flowed they began to take on shapes, and those shapes became solid.

I felt the chill of fear shoot through me. This was all too familiar, all too clear.

Then the eerie voice behind me shocked me into realization. “You should listen to the priest,” it said.

I spun around to see the figure of what had once been the man we knew as Jack raise its head. Unholy fire burned within the orbs of its black eyes. I could see that whatever it had become was no longer human.

Again looking around the room, I could see the shadow forms multiplying. My companions grouped together in the middle of the chamber, drawing back from the shades.

It was my nightmare.

Why do I start reading these things before they're finished? Where's my fast-forward button?

Just think of it like a TV series, a new adventure every week.

WAIT a minute!! I'm feeling the same way. Note to self, wait until the last chapter before reading any more of Dave's stories.
