A New Baby in the House

I have a new baby to care for in my home!

My husband fractured his elbow a couple of days ago, and he can't use his left arm Poor guy.

It was a very heroic injury too, he was on a bike ride with our 7 year old son, and he heard our son fall, so he whipped around to make sure he was ok a little too fast and couldn't get his shoes out of the clips in time and fell full force on the palm of his hand breaking his elbow.

So I've been doing all of the manual labor around the house lately. I almost suggested he get a kilt when he was having trouble with buttoning his pants, but I realized that it wouldn't have solved anything in this instance

It has been a very weird experience from the start because I'm not used to being the nurse in the house (for him anyway). Seeing him lying in the hospital bed in pain was very hard for me--I'm used to being the one lying in the hospital bed having my head stroked when I was giving birth. I think I'd much rather it be me--except for the recovery time!

I don't know what I would do if I could only use one hand. Catch up on my reading I guess?
I have a fever, and the only prescription is MORE KILT

Sorry to hear about your husband's (and yours) misfortune, and hoping all will mend well and quickly.

Take heart that he did not break both arms, as then you truly would have had another infant in the house. A one armed man needs assistance with some things----a no armed man needs even greater assistance with just about everything, if you know what I mean.

I read the subject line and was all prepared to say "congradulations!" Instead, I'll just wish your husband a speedy recovery!

    Same here!

I broke my left wrist many years ago (twice in less than a month), so I can appreciate his temporary disability. I can say that he will learn quickly how to do things with only one hand.

Here's hoping for your husband's quick recovery. These kind of things can be hard for the whole family, so the best to all of you too.

You should offer him a kiss for everything he learns how to do one-handed. I'm pretty sure you can run the Hoover or set a table with one hand. It might take longer, but you can make it worth his while.

Good luck with the new baby!

    Regards,
    Rex.

Sad to hear of such injuries, they do take their toll on things. the kiss idea sounds good, and there are other ways too, you will have to discuss that with him.

My best regards to you both!
