Well, I pulled it out of the rice today. All the water had drained out and was no longer in the screen. Reinstalled the battery and turned it on. While it did power up, the screen did not come back.
RIP little phone.
I just blinged up my old one and will use that for awhile, though I am starting to miss the qwerty keyboard. It's hard to text in a hurry with the old style!
