Oh dear - maybe he is locked up with only bread and water or other similar punishments for missing the maths class.
Oh well - if he got to the talk then he will at least have the memory of it, and in thirty, fourty years can tell the grand kids 'I skipped maths to go to see Ray Bradbury' - and they'll say - 'Who was he then?' or 'So do I still have to do my homework?'

The lecture was very interesting. Mr. Bradbury spoke about his life and his works, and about the people and the books that have influenced him over the years.He told many personal stories... many that made me laugh, and a couple that brought me close to tears. He talked about how he met his wife, and told us the story of how he sold his first two novels in one day.
He spoke alot about love. He said that everything he's ever done has been done out of love. He encouraged us to do what we love and love what we do. We only have one life, and we have to make the most of it.
I feel quite justified in ditching class to go see his talk. he doesn't have a high opinion of formal education. He said that if you want to educate yourself and learn to think, don't waste your time and money going to college... He said that the way to get an education is to spend as much time in a library as you can, reading everything you can get your hands on.
Unfortunately I didn't get a picture or an autograph... I guess that's what I get for being a gentleman and not shoving to the front of the line.

I'm glad that you took the opportunity to hear him speak. I think that the experience might be one of the most educational you might ever have--not that I agree with ditching college.
What you seem to have gotten from the talk are indeed words of wisdom.  |

I've never had the honor of hearing him speak out loud, but I have heard him speak through his books on many, many occassions.
You were very lucky to have had the opportunity. I, for one, am glad that you made the choice to go.

You made the right decision. I'm glad you got to go. I'm insanely jealous. As far as pictures and autographs go, they aren't nearly as important as the memories you've taken away.

What a great experience. Did Ray talk about his friendship with Ray Harryhaussen? They met in a High School Science Fiction Club back when Hector was a pup.
