Larger standard font in posts, please, and more contrast between font and background for us old blind folks!

I'm trying hard to reserve judgment of the new layout until I have more time to explore it, but here's one general suggestion I've actually had a for a while:
-I always use the "New Posts" on the top of the page to find out what's been going on lately. When I finish reading a particular page I have to scroll all the way back up to hit that button again to refresh the "New Posts" page. It'd be very convenient if there was a "New Posts" link on the bottom of the page too.

ps okay, I admit it. i'm really bummed not to have my rank anymore.

Not a big fan but my opinion is not important if it make's life easier for you. What is missing is the tags at the bottom. I usually use this to quickly find info out about local kilt nights. Wheen having to wade through 400 new posts all I needed to do was click on the SOKS tag and I was at the page that showed all events that had included "SOKS" in the post's tags.

Copy and paste from another thread:

I just wanted to add that I think there needs to be something on the right side of the top banner to balance it out - where the Scotweb banner used to be. Either that or taking the header image to the full width. Either way would work, it's just that right now the top space feels very unbalanced.

Also, having the User CP <and ads> on the right of every page crowds it a bit, in my humble opinion. For example, reading someone's profile page, it feels like there's too much crammed in that page.

Steve did say. .. somewhere. . . that the new photo is just a placeholder. He had earlier announced a competition for a new photo/montage that would completely fill the top banner.

And having the CP/ads on the right is no different from the old style that had links down the left side. . . as I understand it, it's a substitute for the old "rotating ads" banner across the top, which meant that as new sponsors signed on, everybody's exposure rate went down.

I wonder if those new ads rotate top-to-bottom, or if the order of appearance has been set by some method? Rotating seems to make sense, I'll have to watch and see what happens. EDIT: I see from another thread that they appear in alpha order. Hmmmm. . . will this set off Yellow-Page style competitions for names such as AAA-Kilts? LOL I still think rotating would be better than alpha, but understand if that creates a whole 'nother can of worms. /EDIT

Really looking forward to hearing about the new levels of advertising! I feel a bit lost, all alone down there in the "Advertisers" field. . .

Sydnie,

You won't feel so lonely for long. Another advertiser just joined you in the Text Ads, I have to wait until I am in the shop tomorrow to add them to the banner though.

I asked about having the Side Logo Ads Rotate for top spot. That was my first preference. We are writing the code for it. For now they are static in alphabetical order.

Patience friends, patience.

Let's let a few more chime in with comments and suggestions. The we will deal with them all at once.

First,

I find the banner hilarious. It's Great!

Second, poking around a new format is always fun for me. It may take me some time to formulate if a quirk is present, and if I have a suggestion to change it.

I agree with the contrast suggestion. It is hard to see some lettering. Especially hard to tell the threads that have new posts (bold) with the threads that don't (not bold). Probably just some minor color changes would work.

The white background behind the posts is a bit blinding. I would love it to be a more muted color or to have an option to change that color.

For the text size, I just hit Ctrl+ to make the text bigger. So while a larger standard text would be nice, I'm used to hitting Ctrl+ all the time anyway.
