First, thanks for all the hard work in making the improvements.

I too feel like I'm going snowblind looking at all the white. But at 65 I'm an olde guy and maybe it doesn't bother the youngsters as much. Would join those asking for a softer color or a return to the tartan.

I always felt the tartan background acted as a loud welcoming statement for visitors and newcomers. No doubt we are serious about our tartans.

But, have been through a few prior evolutions of the board and will weather this one too.

And thanks for the Control + tip...never knew and it sure helps these old eyes to have larger print.

Yeah, I said it in the other thread but I'll say it here again. Either more contrast, or start selling XMTS-branded snow goggles like the Inuit people wear/wore.

It really does hurt to look at for an extended period. The default text colour really should be black... And the previous tartan edges (background) was much easier on the eyes.

I don't know how it is for others, but I have three menu items at the very top of my screen that are in white, bold text on a light gray background. That's just nuts.

I also had to enlarge the text size on my screen -- but that's no big deal.. Just Cmd-"+" on a Mac. I didn't think I was that old yet.. but man!

Overall, it looks pretty good. I think I'd like the tartan backround back though.

I would like to thank everyone for their comments, suggestions and concerns so far.

I will be bringing all of the comments about errors in the program to the attention of Chris, but he is in the UK and will not be available for a few hours yet.

Those comments and suggestions about the look of the forum will get fixed. I too agree that the site is bright. We have gone through four changes, darkening it each time. We are trying to find a happy medium between a stark white sheet and a black gaming site. The colors of the windows and panes and blocks of the site are fairly easy to change, but after looking at this site for hours each day and trying different combinations of colors and tints it becomes hard to tell when you get it just right. Each monitor is slightly different. I've looked at the site on seven monitors and I thought we had it.

I thank those who voiced concerns. All concerns are valid and valued. Thank you for having the conviction to state them.

They were removed some months ago as we had no way of maintaining the content, much of which was not appropriate to this forum. There was a post at the time explaining this.

Ditto. Please also put the "buddy list" function back up.

This is a nice refreshing of the site. One thing I've noticed on my system...maybe others have noticed it, too...is that the site loads faster. That's always a plus.

The Xmarks tartan background for white text doesn't seem to be the best idea since the vertical stripes in the tartan seem to either extend letters vertically or fuse together letters that are adjacent to one another. You might have to try a different color for the text (loud McCloud yellow?), or try a close-up of the sett, or both. Maybe the tartan background could be used as a vertical element on the left where it won't have text immediately on top of it.

Good job so far. Good luck!

Not a big thing, just a convenience one....

Moving the User CP above the menu bar would be nice. The PM notification appears just out of view when the page loads and I have to scroll down to see if I have any PM's. Putting it in the top right corner could be an option to balance the logo on the other side and provide function/convenience.
