I'll join the chorus of "please put a New Posts button at the bottom of the page." I've been off building a kilt with Elsie and this is my first look at the site. I guess I missed some of the bumps. I'll also say I like the tartan border because I do leave Xmarks full screen in back of another window and I know I can click on the tartan without activating a link.

I too miss the X-Marks the Scot Tartan background.

Ali, can you be a bit more specific about what you mean. As I type this I am able to use colors.

I can use different fonts.

And I can make the letters different sizes.

The smilies seem to work. shock:

What am I missing?

Since the whole site is up for change.... Could I make a teeny tiny, small request? Could the strikethrough tag pleeeease be enabled? It should be a standard feature of the VB platform -- it just needs to be activated.

The standard tag for this is usually [s] text [/s]

Looks good to me, but I would like to see an alternative skin for those of us who like black backgrounds and white text. On the two Volvo car forums I frequent, I have both set up with a black/dark gray background. It's much easier to read, surprisingly.

The only other changes I'd like to see have been mentioned already. Namely the deletion of the secondary User CP button, reinstating of the user ranks, addition of the X Marks tartan background where the gray expanse is on the sides, and maybe a shrinkage of the sidebar, so the posts aren't as compressed width-wise.

What do the others do when they are done reading a post of many pages, hit the back button until you get to the new posts, or is there an easier way?

DALE.
Here's how I do it.....
  1. Open the forum
  2. Right Click on the New Posts Link and Open in a New Tab
  3. In the numbered page selection list right click on '2' and open in a new tab
  4. Repeat until I've opened all pages containing 'new' posts in individual tabs
  5. Read until my eyes cross

My first reaction was I hate it. But with a little exposure to it, now I love it. Being an old guy it's sometimes hard to accept change, but this is good change. Thanks Steve.

The white back ground is boring as hell as if the website is build by a 4th grader. Bring on the Tartan background and make the site unique again. This a niche site and I am sure a professional programmer can figure it out quickly. The white back ground lacks entertainment value.

As the designer of the tartan, I miss it, too. But Steve has said multiple times in different threads where this has been brought up that the tartan bakground will be returning. It's on the to-do list.
