    Rainbow Family Gathering - Colorado

My lady and I have pretty much decided to head up to Colorado for our first Rainbow Family gathering over the 4th. Details of the location aren't out yet...too early.

Headed up with some friends who go every year.

Anyone on this board planning on the Rainbow Gathering this year?

    From the wikipedia:

The Rainbow Family of Living Light, sometimes known as the "Rainbow Tribe", is an international loose affiliation of individuals who have a common goal of trying to achieve peace and love on Earth. Those who participate in, or sympathize with, the activities of this group sometimes refer to their group simply as the "Family". The words: Rainbow Family in the longer title are a reference to the group's inclusiveness of all colors or races. The use of the phrase: Living Light in the longer title is a reference to "living lightly", or living with little mass or impact on the environment. Rainbow family participants make the claim that their group is the "largest non-organization of non-members in the world". In addition to referring to itself as a non-organization, the group's "non-members" also even playfully call the group a "disorganization". There are no official leaders, no structure, no official spokespersons, and no membership. Instead, the Rainbow Family forms community through shared "traditions" of love for the Earth, and gatherings to pray for peace. It is maintained by councils consisting of any "non-member" who wishes to be part of the council.

wow...such a huge disorganization of non-members having no impact on the earth...

    I'm a bit confused...

with all this non-organization and no-impact, who is in charge of bringing scotch to enjoy in the mid-afternoon sun? Regardless of affiliation, or non-affiliation in this case, a wee dram o' scotch always makes the day a bit more enjoyable!!!

I could be afield here, but I think what Ron was asking was if anyone was planning to attend, not for personal observations. As a matter of fact, let's just assume that I'm not afield and this really was what he was asking. As in, if you are planning to attend, let him know of your plans.

    OK?

Yup, just asking who was going....heard good stuff...old hippies praying for peace...sober....drumming sober....what a concept.

Might be near impossible to hook up in such a crowd anyway, but thought it didn't hurt to ask if anyone on the board might be going.

Maybe I can get my UK Natural tye died there....

I will say, a tie-died UK natural would be AWESOME!!!...definitly want pics...

hm...Wonder if Ben and Jerry would put a tie-died X-marker on a new flavor of ice cream, "Ladies from hell"? Would prolly be pretty cool..

...and were I in the area, I'd be there, but I'll be up in the woods with 100 7th graders hiking around, singing Harry Chapin, Cat Stevens and Peter, Paul and mary tunes in the Berkshires...have a great time!!
