| | | Stupidity At Work
Okay, how many of you have done something extremly stupid at work and will admit it?
Todays "incident" at work inspired this. As you may or may not know,I'm a landscape designer and forman. Today I was working alone, doing the rough grading around a new house with a bulldozer. I stopped and took some reference pics and went back to work.Not too much time had passed when when I noticed something laying on the ground. It was my fanny pack, which I then recalled setting on one of the tracks when I put my camera back in it. Needless to say the camera, after being run over repeatedly with a D6 Cat was beyond trashed. The other contents,wallet, keys etc. were a little worse for wear but otherwise okay.

SB, ouch! On the one hand I hope it was digital because the memory card probably survived. However on the other hand, replacing a digital is just a leeetle more expensive than a film camera!
Rob... I never do anything stupid at work (that I will admit to!)...

never take important documents into the bathroom with you just as you are about to head out to a presentation with a client to review said documents...

KCW, the memory card was not a survivor. 
I've worked in construction and landscaping nearly 15 years.If it can be ran into or over, I've probably done it. Porta-Potties are near the top of the list.

Why just as recently as Monday I was giving a presentation to a bunch of the new hires. About 5 slides into my presentation, someone noticed that the slides I was reading from the laptop and referring them to were not displaying on the projector.
Oh well, the key in that sort of situation is just to roll with it, so I did. I just went right into the presentation fully verbally, giving them orally the information they were missing visually. Being really conversant with your materials is definately an advantage! (always make your own presentations, never gives the info to someone else to make a presentation for you)
