A wee dram..

I have just returned from my wonderful birthday dinner. At which I had the pleasure of enjoying a dram of Glenlivet 12yr... Very nice. I'm definatly falling in love with single malts...:grin:

Only a dram? Its not my birthday and I am about to finish off a really nice bottle of Chardonnay! Of course, my father has always said that I am a wine common-sewer!

Only one... After that we got into the feast!! Real good BBQ!! Not something I would like to mix with scotch.. I think the BBQ would drown out the flavors I wish to savor in the scotch..

Glenlivet is very nice, but if you want really hard-core whisky, try Ardbeg or Laphroaig....your tastebuds will cry out with delight!

I tried Laphroaig on Christmas day this last year... OH MY! I was hooked!!

You need to try try putting a bit of Scotch in the barbeque sauce. Not the good stuff of course, but an inexpensive one. Good eating!

Another really nice whisky is Lagavulin - probably my favourite just in front of Laphroaig which is strange as the distilleries are about 1/2 mile apart. Another nice whisky is Highland Park from Orkney.

I used to be very partial to a wee dram in my younger days - single malts at high days and holidays but otherwise blends. Glenlivet was one of my favourites. I stopped drinking whisky due to liver inflammation ten years ago but still drank wine for about seven or eight years after that. Now I don't drink alcohol. Enjoy - in moderation it will do you no harm, and will give you a nice glow, but Scotch Whisky is nice stuff and it's all too easy to gradually make that wee dram bigger and bigger and then suffer for it in later years.
