| | | Will Scotch Whisky Revive Britain's Tanked Economy?
From NPR's Morning Edition today (8/31/10) http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...ryId=129545923
Just a summary and link to the audio.
nb: I corrected the spelling in the headline, but canna' be responsible for actual or perceived references to the Demon Brown Liquor of the other Gaels or the Colonies! ;-)

| | So what you're saying is that we should all drink more Scotch to help out the UK?
I fully plan to do my part

I don't know about the economy, but I see no reason why one can't be "tanked" on occasion!
Doing my part, one dram at a time!

NPR had a segment on it this morning. Scotch whisky (mainly blends) is the largest single item in Britain's exports of food and beverages. Even during the past year's recession, exports to the US grew 13%.

Well, I'll help as best I can with single and vatted malts, anyway.
Got home from work last night and could almost see the chill San Francisco mist inside my apartment. Dealt with it by having a bowl of microwaved haggis for dinner followed by a dram of good Islay malt (Lagavulin), then wrapped up in a plaidie with a good book.
(EDIT: I seem to have "seasonal" preferences in whisky, though I'll drink any good one anytime. Basically, in summer/warm weather I tend to prefer Highland & Speyside malts, while in winter or cold/stormy weather it's Islay or other island malts.)

Do you normally have Haggis lying about? Or is it left-overs from William Wallace Day?

| Mainly in blends? Euww, indeed.
Well if the trade is mainly in blends, then surely there should be a redoubled effort to bring up the single malt sales!

I think I'll go get a bottle on my way home. What brand should I get?
